Comparison of Rapid and Semi-Rapid Maxillary Expansion Efficiency According to Skeletal Maturation Stages: A Retrospective Study

نویسندگان

چکیده

Objective: This study aimed to compare the skeletal and dentoalveolar effects of expansion force created by semi-rapid rapid activation protocols. Material Methods: The comprised 54 patients (26 female 28 male) with transverse maxillary insufficiency. Of these patients, 22 were treated (SRME) 32 (RME). SRME group consisted 6 prepubertal, 8 pubertal, postpubertal RME 11 10 patients. Treatment both protocols evaluated different measurements on posteroanterior cephalograms plaster models taken before treatment after a retention period 3 months. Kruskal-Wallis analysis was used for comparisons between maturation periods. Independent sample t-test Mann-Whitney U test Bonferroni correction pairwise two Results: increases in nasal dental widths found be higher than prepubertal patient (p0.05). No statistically significant difference among groups all (p>0.05). Conclusion: current represented some evidence that protocol might cause less tissue resistance conventional RME. efficiency therapy is similar whom sutural resolved.

Bone-Borne Maxillary Expansion and Traditional Rapid Maxillary Expansion: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Introduction: The aim of this study was to perform a systematic review and meta-analysis to compare the effect of bone-borne expansion (BBE) and tooth-borne expansion (TBE) in patients with maxillary constriction. Methods: Electronic databases, including MEDLINE, EMBASE, and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, were searched up to February 2019. Elig...

Skeletal changes of maxillary protraction without rapid maxillary expansion.

OBJECTIVE To determine potential differences in treatment efficiencies of face mask therapy without rapid maxillary expansion (RME) at different early dental stages. MATERIALS AND METHODS Forty-nine Class III children who were treated with a face mask without RME were divided into two groups according to their pretreatment dental stage. The primary dentition treatment group consisted of 26 su...

Stability of Rapid Maxillary Expansion

The stability of rapid maxillary expansion (RME) was studied in 20 patients. Study models were evaluated immediately prior to treatment, at the end of treatment, and at least 4 years post-treatment with regards to maxillary and mandibular intermolar widths, intercanine widths, arch perimeters, and irregularity indices. The mean maxillary intermolar width increased by 3.7 mm during treatment, an...

Effect of rapid maxillary expansion on skeletal, dental, and nasal structures: a postero-anterior cephalometric study.

The purpose of this study was to compare the transverse dimensions of skeletal, dental, and nasal structures of a group of patients with maxillary narrowness before and after rapid maxillary expansion (RME) with an untreated control group using postero-anterior (PA) cephalometric radiographs. The material consisted of PA cephalograms of 25 children with a posterior crossbite (mean age 13 years ...

A longitudinal study of skeletal rapid maxillary expansion side effects induced by

Orthopedic expansion of the maxillary arch--rapid maxillary expansion (RME)--is a commonly used treatment technique that has become increasingly popular during the last 25 years. During this time, however, clinicians routinely have imputed a variety of undesirable side effects to RME, particularly bite opening. Whereas there have been many explanations as to the mechanisms underlying such RME-r...
